Since July 1, 2026, Red Oak Sanitation has been the only company collecting household trash and recycling inside Woodstock city limits. The City Council approved the contract on April 13 after a competitive bid, the city announced in May. Red Oak took over about 12,076 households from Waste Management, relabeling the carts residents already had.

  • Missed pickup, bulk items, billing, backdoor service: Red Oak Sanitation, call or text 678-455-7819, or info@redoaksanitation.com
  • City of Woodstock, Public Works: 770-592-6006

What day is my pickup?

Red Oak collects trash and recycling once a week on the same day, Monday through Friday, with five routes running each weekday. To find your day, type your street address into the “Check your service day” box on Red Oak’s Woodstock page. The city also posts a service map for each weekday on its Sanitation & Recycling page.

Red Oak asks residents to set carts out the night before pickup:

  • Put carts at the curb opposite your mailbox, within 1 foot of the curb.
  • Turn the handles toward your house.
  • Leave at least 1 foot between carts.

What is included

Service What Red Oak collects
Trash One 95-gallon cart, plus up to eight extra bags of 13 gallons or less
Recycling Whatever fits in the recycling cart, following Red Oak’s guidelines
Yard waste Bagged or bundled, limbs cut to 4 feet or shorter
Bulky items Two items a week at no extra charge, scheduled in advance

Extra trash bags and yard waste bags share one limit of eight bags a pickup. If you want more than two bulky items collected at once, the city says you must tell Red Oak in advance.

Red Oak’s FAQ says recycling is routed separately and is not shown on the bill. If your recycling cart is not being emptied, call 678-455-7819 and ask for recycling service to be set up.

Holiday schedule

Red Oak says service may be delayed one day following these observed holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

The next three fall on Thursday, Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving), Friday, Dec. 25 (Christmas) and Friday, Jan. 1, 2027 (New Year’s Day). Check Red Oak’s holiday schedule page before those weeks.

What it costs

The city’s contract sets Red Oak’s rate at $48 a quarter for one trash cart and one recycling cart, down from $49.82 under Waste Management. Extra carts cost an additional monthly fee. Red Oak bills residents directly, a quarter at a time.

  • ACH payments and ACH auto-draft carry no fee.
  • One-time card payments carry a 3% fee; monthly card auto-draft is $1.
  • Mailed paper invoices cost $2 a quarter.

New residents set up an account with Red Oak’s intake form or the online form on its Woodstock page; the first quarter is due when you enroll.

Backdoor service

Residents who are physically unable to move carts to the curb can ask for backdoor collection. Call Red Oak at 678-455-7819 to request it.

Glass, electronics and hazardous waste

The city points residents to the Cherokee County Recycling Center, which takes single-stream recycling including glass. It serves Cherokee County residents only.

The city’s next recycling and paper shredding event, “‘Tis the Season to be Green,” is Saturday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to its special events calendar. Collection is free except televisions and monitors, which carry a cash fee. The city said in April that household hazardous waste can be dropped off by appointment at its Nov. 14 event. Check woodstockparksandrec.com for the location and accepted items closer to the date.

After Christmas, the city’s Christmas Tree Chip & Dip takes trees at Olde Rope Mill Park, 690 Olde Rope Mill Road, from Dec. 26 to Jan. 17.
