The parade
The parade starts at Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road, travels down Main Street and ends near Sam’s Club at Highway 92. Floats compete for awards, from “Most Original” to the “History & Heritage Award.” The 2026 grand marshals were Ralph and Carrie Roeger, Marine Corps veterans and owners of Rally Point Grille, the city announced.
Woodstock’s official July 4 tradition began in 1997, when the city marked the 100th anniversary of its 1897 charter at what is now The Park at City Center. The event took the name July 4th Spectacular in 2015.
The fireworks
Since 2002 the fireworks have launched from the Highway 92 corridor near I-575, and the city says the show draws more than 30,000 people, many arriving early to tailgate. The city’s calendar listed the 2026 launch site as behind the Lowe’s shopping center at Highway 92 and I-575 and said it would post traffic directions on its website.
The Freedom Run
The Freedom Run began in 1996 as an alternative for runners who did not get into Atlanta’s Peachtree Road Race. It had 252 runners its first year and 1,252 in 2025, and the city calls it the second-largest race in Georgia. Registration is at WoodstockFreedomRun.com.
Parking and getting there
Downtown parking is free in the City Center East parking deck, which has more than 600 spaces; the city says 85% of downtown spaces are free, and its paid zones are enforced from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. See the city’s downtown parking page and our getting around guide. Main Street closes for the parade; see road closures.
What to expect in 2027
July 4, 2027, falls on a Sunday. Woodstock held the celebration on July 4 itself in 2026, a Saturday; the city has not said whether the 2027 events will be on the holiday or another day. This page will be updated when it does.
