Woodstock’s dog life centers on Woofstock Park, the city’s off-leash dog park on Dupree Road, which is also the trailhead for two paved trails. Downtown, a brewery, a food truck park, coffee shops and a gelato shop are on Visit Woodstock GA’s list of pet-friendly places. Away from the dog park, keep your dog leashed.

Woofstock Park
Woofstock Park, 150 Dupree Road, is Woodstock’s dog park, with large and small breed areas, according to the city’s park page. It sits on the former site of the Walden Chase apartments, destroyed by flooding in September 2009; the city bought the land with a FEMA grant that requires anything built there to suit the floodplain, and the City Council chose a dog park in 2010.
The city’s off-leash rules:
- Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. unless posted otherwise.
- Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated and wear a visible license.
- No dogs under 4 months and no female dogs in heat.
- Dogs must be on a leash entering and leaving the off-leash area, under the handler’s control and in view.
- Handlers must be 16 or older, carry a leash at all times and bring no more than two dogs.
- No children 6 and under in the off-leash area; children 7 to 12 must be with an adult.
- Pick up after your dog and fill any holes it digs. No glass containers.
- Remove your dog at the first sign of aggression. Only dogs are allowed in the off-leash area.
Handlers are responsible for injuries their dogs cause, and the city says it is not liable for injury or damage caused by a dog at the park.

Dog days at the pool
At the end of each summer the county aquatic center turns its outdoor water park over to dogs for Paws in the Pool. In 2026 it was Sunday, Sept. 13, and Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Harry Johnston Aquatic Center, 1200 Wellstar Way, Canton, with time slots and a fee per dog. Proof of distemper, parvo and rabies vaccinations is required, dogs must be spayed or neutered, each handler may bring two dogs, and people may not swim with them, according to Cherokee Recreation and Parks. Call 678-880-4760.
Where dogs cannot go

- The upper-level restaurant space at Reformation Woodstock.
- Any business that does not say so: ask first. Service animals are a separate matter under federal law.
Leash rules
Woodstock’s animal rules are in Chapter 6, Animals, of the city’s code of ordinances. The chapter adopts Cherokee County’s animal control ordinance by reference, and the city and county enforce it together, with Cherokee County handling removal and impoundment of animals. The city’s dog park rules require a leash going in and out and say dogs must be under control at all times. Outside the off-leash area, keep your dog leashed.
To report a loose or dangerous dog in the city, call Cherokee County dispatch at 678-493-4080; in an emergency, call 911.
